Robert Barnard has spent more than 15 years decoding Generation X, Y and now Z. Since 1994 as a founder and now CEO of DECODE, Robert has led a passionate team of decoders to discover and develop what's next. Robert has worked for major corporations in the financial services, telecommunications, food and beverage, traditional media and government sectors.  He also works with young entrepreneurs who have ideas that are focused on the youth and young adult market.

Robert is the co-author of the best-selling book Chips and Pop: decoding the Nexus Generation and recipient of Canada's Top 40 under 40 Award. He is an internationally recognised speaker about youth and young adult issues and engagement.

Prior to DECODE Robert founded Generation 2000 a Canadian youth organization committed to informing and inspiring youth to take action. He has also had stints as a clothing designer and manufacturer, bank teller, tennis instructor and pizza delivery guy.

Robert is based in London, UK.
 

 
Ros Altmann
Director-General
Saga

Ros Altmann is Director-General of Saga, the over 50s specialists.  She is an economist by training and an investment banker by profession, having extensive investment management experience.  She has worked, for many years, as an independent policy adviser on pension issues, including advising the Treasury and the Number 10 Policy Unit on investment and pensions reform.

She is a non-executive of the Court Funds Office Investment Board and a Governor of the London School of Economics, and the Pensions Policy Institute.  

Ros was awarded an honorary Doctorate by the University of Westminster in recognition of her contribution to Pension Investment and policy.  She has a Ph.D. degree in Economics from L.S.E. and was a Kennedy Scholar at Harvard.

Ros is a frequent media commentator and writes or speaks on pension, savings and care issues.
 
Peter MacDonald
Director of Talent & Resourcing
Royal Mail Group

Following his graduation in Economics, and a period in the teaching profession, Peter joined Ford Motor Company as a graduate trainee. He spent nine years with Ford in many different roles including manufacturing and central functions.

In 1998 Peter joined British Aerospace Airbus, where he was Head of Learning and Development. He then moved to Toulouse in 2000 to take the role of Global Head of Executive Development for Airbus. In 2003 he took the post of HR Director of EADS Astrium – the space technology and satellites division of EADS (the parent company of Airbus).

Peter joined Parcelforce Worldwide in April 2007 as Director of Human Resources.

In December 2010 he was appointed Group Director of Talent & Resourcing for Royal Mail.

Caroline Waters OBE
Director of People & Policy
BT

Caroline Waters is Director of People and Policy for BT Group.  A role that she has held since 2005 following a number of senior HR appointments in the Company.

Her current role focuses on realising BT’s business ambitions through leading-edge people strategies, underpinned by robust policies and processes, which promote inclusivity, empower individuals, generate revenue and opportunity and contribute to community and volunteering.

Caroline also leads BT’s Diversity Centre of Expertise which builds on the Company’s leadership in diversity practice to enhance implementation throughout BT’s operations.

She regularly contributes advice and guidance to Government and Industry through a variety of employer forums and working parties.
